Stepping back slowly, firing at the approaching darkness.  No fear was shown outwardly but inside raced the panic that was spinning through his body, like a shockwave.  The next step back the ground was missing but his momentum was already going his body teetered on the edge for just a moment before he was grasping at air to pull himself up.  Darkness enveloping him.

Grasping into the air he was sitting bolt upright in his bed his gun hand aiming for the next influx of enemies, his eyes scanning before him. His heart started to slow, as recognition came from his surroundings.

     “Time,” he says.

“4:57 A.M.,” the female computer voice pipes in, “Are you ok, Commander?”

“Yes, thank you.  Lights, dismiss alarm.” the lights came on in the room, “Thank you.”
